LCSV makes links with Cultural Political Economy Network

LCSV’s Robbie Watt recently presented the work of the Leverhulme Centre for the Study of Value and his research on the moral economy of carbon offsetting at the Fourth Annual Cultural Political Economy Workshop at the University of Lancaster on the 22 May 2014. Robbie was speaking on a panel considering the Moral and Cultural Economy of Finance and Environment along with Professors Andrew Sayer and Bob Jessop.

Workshop organisers Professors Ngai-Ling Sum and Bob Jessop have recently published Towards a Cultural Political Economy: Putting Culture in its Place in Political Economy and they were keen to stress similarities and links between their collected works and the LCSV research protocol, which Robbie outlined in his presentation.

Following the workshop, participants agreed to set up a Cultural Political Economy Network with a plan to organise a Cultural Political Economy Conference in 2015 so that researchers can continue to present work and discuss different entry-points, cases, methodologies and theories.
